On the evening of Friday 10th March 2023, we are once again taking part in the London Walk, organised by our friends the London Homeless Collective. This walk brings charities working in homelessness in the city together to walk as one.

What is The London Walk?

Its the coming together of more than 25 charities that help people experiencing homelessness to walk through London at night. Walking through the night offers an opportunity for reflection on the experience of people who are homeless.

Between April 2021 and March 2022, 8,329 people were seen sleeping rough in London, a decrease from the year before. However, as the cost-of-living crisis manifests, there will be an increase of rough sleepers as well as other forms of homelessness and poverty. This year, we walk to support those most impacted by the soaring costs.

The walk starts from the Café in the Crypt under St Martin’s Church.and there will be pre-event entertainment and activities planned by the London Homeless Collective. There will be a reception for people at the end of the walk and space for them to rest and recover.

Not only can you expect a fun night, but you will also receive an item of clothing to be worn on the night (TBA) and a medal upon completion!

Last year, 300 of us walked through London and collectively raised £100,000 across the sector. This year we aim to make more noise and raise more money to end homelessness in the City. The London Homeless Collective is hoping to raise £250,000 to support some much-needed services over one night.

There will be three routes available – a 10K, half marathon and marathon through Central London – meaning there’s a route for everyone.

Every copy counts this Winter

Your local vendor is at the sharp end of the cost-of-living crisis this Winter. Prices of energy and food are rising rapidly. As is the cost of rent. All at their highest rate in 40 years. Vendors are amongst the most vulnerable people affected. Support our vendors to earn as much as they can and give them a fighting chance this Winter.
