Changemakers is Big Issue’s annual celebration of the people, organisations and businesses who make life better for everyone. We celebrate those agitators, activists and non-stop grassroots campaigners who are in the vanguard of change.
In the past, a Big Issue panel has chosen the top 100, across diverse areas including housing and homelessness, cost of living crisis, environment, culture, health and wellbeing, education, employment and equality and refugees and asylum.
For 2024, we are doing things differently. Big Issue is asking readers and supporters to choose this year’s changemakers. These could be local heroes in your community, or people and organisations responsible for innovative change. We want to hear of those we need to showcase and select as our 100 for the year ahead.
As well as inviting public nominations, we will be calling on past Changemakers to nominate the people they see as vital leaders for the months ahead. Our top 100 list will also highlight ‘Young Changemakers’under the age of 25, celebrating youth voices that are paving the way in their field.
The final top 100 list will be drawn from this wide spectrum of voices. We look forward to the difficult task of settling on a top 100.
Our Changemakers for 2024 will be published in a special edition of The Big Issue on 15 January. We will also celebrate the nominees who are not on the final list but are still making a vital contribution to positive change in the UK.
