Stik’s exclusive Pride banner goes on sale at Christie’s

Money raised from the sale of Stik’s bespoke Pride banner will go towards Project Indigo, a charity that support young, vulnerable people from the LGBTQI+ community

The bespoke Pride banner made by celebrated street artist Stik goes on sale at Christies Auction from today.

The hand-stitched, two-metre appliqué banner was commissioned by Hackney Council for the in the Pride in London Parade.

It shows two of Stik’s unique, unmistakable figures against the backdrop of the original LGBTQ+ rainbow flag created by the late Gilbert Baker, who died this week aged 65.

Funds raised will go to Project Indigo, who will be curating a major exhibition and archive at Hackney Museum celebrating and documenting the LGBTQ+ legacy of the area.

“I am proud to present this banner to the LGBTQ+ community and hope to see its legacy live on,” explained Stik, who was formerly homeless and previously gave away 75,000 exclusive prints to Big Issue readers in 2013.

Online bidding (Lot 48 | Sale 14935) runs from the April 4-13, and the banner is on display at Christies King Street, London.
