Re-Sisters by Cosey Fanni Tutti review: The women undermined and ostracised in their time

Cosey Fanni Tutti pours over the lives of three radical women across the centuries. Dani Garavelli reviews Re-sisters.

Re-Sisters
Re-Sisters by Cosey Fanni Tutti is out now (Faber, £18.99)

In Re-Sisters, artist and founding member of Throbbing Gristle Cosey Fanni Tutti examines the lives of three non-conforming women: herself, pioneer of electronic music Delia Derbyshire and 15th-Century mystic Margery Kempe.

Their backgrounds could scarcely be more different, but she recognises in them all a chafing against the structures of their time which saw them undermined and ostracised. Though the connections sometimes feel forced, the characters are all interesting enough to make the book a compelling read.

Dani Garavelli is a journalist and broadcaster
