Frank Turner to play exclusive street paper gig in Manchester

The English singer-songwriter will headline ‘Street Noise’ – hosted by presenter and musician Clint Boon – at Manchester’s O2 Ritz in August.

Frank Turner is to play a gig in support of the global street papers movement in Manchester this summer.

The folk-rock superstar will headline Street Noise – hosted by DJ and musician Clint Boon – at the city’s O2 Ritz on Thursday, August 24.

Turner is a long-standing supporter of The Big Issue and felllow street papers. In 2015, he wrote this candid, exclusive piece on fighting mental health stigma and the suicide of his friend and punk rock legend Josh Burdette.

“I’m very happy and honoured to be doing the show,” says Turner. “The work Big Issue North do with and for the homeless is invaluable; it’s an important campaign to get behind.

“I’m also happy to be coming back to Manchester for a show – it’s one of my favourite cities in the world.”

Street Noise will fall on the final day of this year’s Global Street Paper Summit, organised by the International Network of Street Papers, which also takes place in Manchester. In recent years, the Summit has been hosted in a different city across the world, including Athens, Seattle and Glasgow.

Tickets for Street Noise go on sale from June 23 from Ticketmaster
