Watch Lewis Capaldi’s emotional new organ donor video starring Peter Capaldi

The video is in partnership with organ donation charity Live Life Give Life

It’s a Capaldi in a Capaldi, a Capaldiception. But they’re not messing around.

BAFTA award winning Doctor Who and The Thick Of It star Peter Capaldi plays the main lead in Scottish musician Lewis Capaldi’s emotional new music video for ‘Someone You Loved’, in partnership with organ donation charity Live Life Give Life.

The tearjerker tells a very real and moving story between two families who experience the loss and saving of someone close, and the overwhelming courage, bravery and selflessness that comes in donating an organ.

Lewis says he was naturally drawn to the topic of organ donation, and that his Mum, who is a nurse, made him aware of Live Life Give Life. After approaching the charity, the two partnered, collaborating to bring this video to life and provide a boost to those who are affected by the issues of organ donation.

The Capaldis, who are actually distant relatives, had only met each other once before the video.

“I wanted to do something a bit different to what I had before and try take the opportunity to raise awareness for something that I thought was deserving,” said Lewis. “Coincidentally, while working on the video, I received a message from a fan of my music, Jim who is currently on the organ transplant list himself. For me, this solidified how important it is to try and raise awareness for this subject in order to help Jim and the many others just like him.”

Originally released as part of Capaldi’s ‘Breach’ EP, ‘Someone You Loved’ became his first UK top 10 single in 2018.

If this doesn’t get people on the donor register, I don’t know what will.
