Angry Dan ponders his place in the universe with The Big Issue Shop

The contemporary artist has teamed up with our #WEARABIGISSUE brand to make more than just a fashion statement

It’s fun to ponder the big questions.

Ever sat and considered the meaning of life? What came first – the chicken or the egg? Or even, are we alone in the universe?

Contemporary artist Angry Dan has turned his mind to awe-inspiring quandaries like these with his Pale Blue Dot limerick:

“When will our ill-fated race,

Accept with humble embrace,

All that we’ve got,

Is this pale blue dot,

Suspended in infinite space?”

And that pale blue dot has inspired a t-shirt our #WEARABIGISSUE fashion brand, which features art apparel that aims to make more than fashion statement.

As the London-based artist Angry Dan explains: “As a cultural point of reference, the ‘Pale Blue Dot’ is a famous photo of earth, taken from the Voyager 1 space probe in 1990. It’s supposed to mark a profound point in the understanding of our place in the universe, and has been the subject of many philosophical discussions.”

Available now exclusively in The Big Issue Shop, this limited-edition t-shirt is available in two styles – a breast pocket option or a full-size design to really help you get the message out there. It is printed on EarthPositive® materials which have been created solely out of wind and solar power. And on the back there is the #WEARABIGISSUE mantra with helpful advice and instructions to care for the world around you.

So they’ll keep the pale blue dot spinning for just a bit longer. And, best of all, proceeds from every sale will go towards The Big Issue’s mission to dismantle poverty, helping vendors with a hand up, not a hand out.

The only big question left to answer is: when are you going to treat yourself to a t-shirt?
