Ditch the disposable coffee cup with Ecoffee and The Big Issue Shop

With plenty of colours and patterns on offer there’s no excuse for single use

You’ve ditched your single-use plastic water bottle in favour of a more environmentally friendly (not to mention economical!) alternative. Now it’s time to do the same with your morning coffee.

2017 marked 30 years of the single-use “paper” cup, but with an estimated two trillion of them ending up in landfills, it’s time to find an alternative vessel for your morning coffee.

The average lifespan of a single-use cup is 13 minutes, with less than one per cent being recycled because they contain plastic.

Ecoffee founder David decided the amount of paper cups going to landfill each year was enough, and founded Ecoffee Cup in 2014.

“At the time I was running a gift manufacturing business and one day, I guess you could say I had an existential moment, realising we were very much part of the problem, not the solution. I put two and two together, changed our business model and went on to form Ecoffee Cup in 2014,” he said.

Ecoffee created the next generation of reusable takeaway cup, manufactured using the world’s fastest growing, most sustainable crop – bamboo fibre.

Whether you opt for a funky pattern or traditional William Morris print, with the range of colours and stylish patterns on offer from The Big Issue Shop, there really is no excuse for single use.

Join Ecoffee’s #stopthe100billion campaign to raise awareness of single use packaging and pick up your reusable cup!Shop the collection at The Big Issue Shop.
