In this week’s Big Issue magazine on sale around the UK this week we have a free money advice mag created just for kids. Our Pocket Money magazine is a summer special edition and has everything younger readers need to know about having fun with money this summer (without breaking into their piggy banks).

Created in collaboration with The Week Junior and aimed at eight- to 14-year-old readers, it is the second edition of Pocket Money that Big Issue has published. Our first issue came out for the Budget last spring and showcased what the spending priorities are for youngsters, with loads of advice on budgeting and saving – you can download it for free here.

In our brand new Summer Special edition, we have brilliant ideas for how to plan adventures and have great days out cheaply and for free.

A whimsical cartoon illustration of a giant ice cream cone made of stacked gold coins. The ice cream scoops are brown and pink with sprinkles and have smiling coin characters emerging from them. Surrounding the ice cream are clouds, a piggy bank, a beach ball, a treasure chest filled with coins, and a sandbox bucket. The background is a soft teal color. The overall image suggests themes of money, savings, and summer fun.

Presenter of Newsround and Life Hacks, Shanequa Paris, reveals all about her best summer jobs, and we’ve tips from financial expert Mr MoneyJar (Timi Merriman-Johnson) on how to set goals and make money during the holidays.

We also look at how Taylor Swift, Mr Beast, Zendaya and Lionel Messi use the money they earn to do good things – and how you can help others if you’re feeling inspired! And there are quizzes and puzzles, plus some essential tips for staying safe online whether you’re gaming or chatting with friends.

Pocket Money magazine was created as part of Big Issue Talks Money financial education series, which is supported through Experian’s United For Financial Health programme. Find a Big Issue vendor to get your copy, or take out a subscription to the magazine here. Or you can download a pdf of Pocket Money Summer Special by clicking the image below.
