We need you! Nominate who you think should be a Big Issue Changemaker in 2027

Every year Big Issue compiles a list of 100 people and organisations who make the world a better place. Do you have a local hero? Tell us about them now!

Many of us living in Britain are facing challenging times. But within the darkness, there is a huge amount of hope to be found in the people, groups and communities who are working to change lives and help people cope with the pressures of everyday life. These people often go unrecognised. They are the unsung heroes keeping Britain going. They are Big Issue Changemakers.

At the Big Issue, we do our bit to celebrate these people. Every year since 2018, we have celebrated the Changemakers: those people who have not focused on themselves but the rest of us. It is a tribute to the people and organisations who make the world a brighter place.

And since 2024, we have invited you – our readers – to help us create our list of 100 Changemakers. Nominations are open for Changemakers 2027 now.

Do you know a trailblazer in your community? Is there someone who you would like to shout about who is helping to change people’s lives? Is there a group or organisation that has helped you cope with the challenges in your life? Perhaps they are a person who your community could not survive without.

We want to hear about these people – and we want to give them a chance to be recognised – because being a Big Issue Changemaker can make a genuine difference to people’s lives and help them continue the important work they do.

Through our journalism, we often write about the things that are going wrong in the country and the world, and it’s important to expose those injustices. But it’s vital to recognise the good too.

Our Changemakers in previous years have worked across housing and homelessness, health and disability, food and nutrition, politics and activism, learning and employment, culture and sport, media and campaigns, and have supported refugees and asylum seekers. But we are open to nominations beyond these categories too.

We just want to hear about people who are making a difference. If you have a person or group in mind and would like to nominate them to be one of our Big Issue Changemakers 2027, fill out the form below.
