How Liam Gallagher and his Adidas trainers are helping a homeless charity

The singer is staging a concert in Blackburn to announce his new Adidas Spezial range – raising money for local homeless charity Nightsafe in the process.

You gotta sole with it. The importance of being sandle. Wonderplimsole.

Former Oasis frontman, Liam Gallagher, will play an intimate gig in Blackburn on April 27 to promote a new trainer partnership with Adidas. All proceeds from the event will be donated to a local charity which helps homeless and vulnerably housed young people.

Gallagher said: “I’m glad to announce my new collaboration with Adidas Spezial. It’s our take on the one and only Barrington Smash and it’s absolutely incredible. And if that’s not enough to blow your wig off, I’m going to be playing The King George’s Hall in Blackburn, Lancashire.

“All proceeds from the gig will be in aid of Nightsafe, a local homeless charity.”

Nightsafe was founded in 1990 and continues to support 16- to 24-year-olds in Blackburn and Darwen. The charity is based on the vision that “every young person that comes through Nightsafe’s door will have a roof over their head, live in a safe environment, be treated with kindness, dignity and respect and achieve their potential.”

Jan Larkin, CEO of Nightsafe, said, “We are incredibly touched at the generosity of Liam, Gary [Aspden, founder of Adidas Spezial] and the Adidas team for holding the concert.

“The gig will be a fantastic night and it will raise life-changing funds for countless young people facing tremendously difficult times.”

Fans can enter a ballot in order to get tickets. If they win, they will be asked to make a £20 donation per ticket. The ballot is open now and closes at midnight on Thursday.

The concert is to announce the Launch of Gallagher’s line with Adidas Spezial, LG2SPZL. This will be the first time Liam has ever performed in Blackburn, which is where Aspden is from.

Aspden said: “I am super made up that Liam has agreed to come and perform here. This should bring some great energy and positivity to Blackburn and will hopefully give Nightsafe a much-needed boost after what have been a difficult few years for everyone.”

The venue, King George’s Hall, has been played by a number of music icons including David Bowie, The Beatles, The Clash and The Stone Roses.

Denise Park, chief executive of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said she was grateful to Adidas for “backing Blackburn” by choosing it for the event. She said: “It’s an opportunity for us to again showcase what we have to offer in the borough as well as raise vital funds for Nightsafe – a fantastic charity.

“I’d like to wish all of our residents who are Liam Gallagher fans the best of luck in the ballot – what a night it will be!”
