The annual gathering of more than 100 of our sister street paper titles from all over the world has been postponed due to the impact of the coronavirus.
The Global Street Paper Summit, organised by the International Network of Street Papers (INSP), was due to be hosted by Italian title Scarp de’ tenis in June. It is the only forum where street paper staff can meet with colleagues from around the world to learn from each other, share experience and form partnerships.
This year’s event will now go ahead in June 2021 after INSP took the difficult to decision to postpone the event in light of how badly the coronavirus has affected northern Italy.
Instead, INSP will hold an online AGM in the coming months.
Marie Aldam, INSP’s chief executive, said: “We have taken this decision in order to ensure the welfare of everyone involved, as well as to minimise the financial risk to INSP created by the uncertainty of the current situation.
“At a time when we would usually be paying suppliers, distributing scholarships and encouraging members to register and book travel it would be irresponsible to continue as normal at this time. We also have a responsibility to minimise any financial risk for our members who were planning to attend.”
