Much-loved Felixstowe vendor Andy Rogers has died

The veteran seller, known to his regular customers as ‘Andy Two Dogs’, passed away before Christmas

The Big Issue is saddened to report that popular Felixstowe vendor Andy Rogers has died.

Known as ‘Andy Two Dogs’ due to his passion for his pets, the 49-year-old was found dead on December 19. The cause of death at the time of writing is unknown with a post mortem still to take place.

The Tottenham Hotspur fanatic sold The Big Issue in the seaside Suffolk town for more than 15 years.

“Andy was a much-loved vendor in Felixstowe in Suffolk, he was a lively and friendly character who loved Tottenham Hotspur,” said Jim Graver, The Big Issue’s regional manager in East Anglia. “Andy was known to most as ‘Andy Two Dogs’ as his greatest love was his two dogs who were with him always and I understand they are being taken care of by friends.”

Staff at the Tesco Metro store in Felixstowe where Andy sold the magazine have paid tribute with a floral wreath and a message of condolence on his pitch.

The note read: “Andy was often seen here selling The Big Issue and was known throughout Felixstowe town as a very friendly and approachable man.

“We are saddened by the recent news and as a team, we will be doing in a collection in store to support those nearest to Andy with the upcoming arrangements.”

Andy’s customers also paid tribute to him, including Anamaria O’Brien, who said: “Oh this has made me so sad. I often bought the magazine from him. My heart is broken.”

Gemma Clarke added: “Andy was such a lovely person. I looked for him when doing my last bits of shopping, it became a bit of a tradition that I gave him extra for the Christmas Big Issue and for the dogs when he had them.

“When my dog died he cried with me too. He always used to say hello to me along the seafront. He had time for everyone all the time. This really has made me very sad.”

A JustGiving campaign has been set up to generate funds for Andy’s funeral and has so far raised £420. Contributions can be made here.
