Staff pay tribute to Big Issue vendor who died over Christmas

Staff at The Big Issue in Bristol pay tribute to ‘kind and gentle’ vendor

Big Issue staff in Bristol have paid tribute to vendor Dean Telfer, after receiving reports that he had died over Christmas.

Dean, aged 39, was one of the city’s most popular vendors, and was one of the first sellers of the magazine in the UK to begin offering cashless payments.

James Wilkinson, Sales and Outreach Worker for The Big Issue in Bristol, said: “The Big Issue Bristol team were all really saddened to hear about Dean passing away over Christmas.

“He was always a kind and gentle personality in the office and on his pitch on Gloucester Road, and was a real staple of his community.

“He will be missed by the staff, volunteers, and vendors of Bristol, and I’m sure by many of his customers as well.”
