“One day I would like to start my own business and become my own boss.”

I’m a lucky man. I have a very good pitch here in Bath, at Green Park, it is a lovely area. Bath is a very nice city, of course, and it’s a fine place to be outside when the weather is good.

Being a Big Issue vendor is going very well for me. I enjoy selling the magazine and talking to my customers.

I moved from Bucharest to the UK in 2007. My partner and I tried to make a go of things in London and then Slough but it was very difficult to find work and it was also hard to find somewhere to live. I did some painting and decorating work, and I also worked in furniture removal.

I knew some friends who lived in Bath, so we came across a couple of years ago to try and find work here. I was very impressed by Bath, it is a beautiful city. There are so many beautiful buildings, nice parks and nice people – life here is very peaceful and gentle. There is less hustle and bustle than in London and Slough.

When life gets a little easier, as it has now, you can do things like follow football

Again, it was not easy to find somewhere to live but fortunately we have now found a good place to rent. Being settled in our home makes everything a bit easier.

I have been working very hard as a vendor. One day I would like to start my own business and become my own boss, if I’m lucky.

When I have some free time I like to exercise. I go running and keep myself fit that way. There are great parks and I like to jog along the River Avon.

Maybe now that things are getting easier I will have more time to explore the city. I know there are lots of interesting and historical places, like the Roman baths.

When life gets a little easier, as it has now, you can do things like follow football. I like to keep up with how my favourite team Real Madrid is doing. And they are doing well – top of the league in Spain!

There have been quite a few ups and downs in my life over the past 10 years. But I love it in the UK. People are good here. So I want to make a good life here for my family. That is the most important thing.

My favourite team... Real Madrid. Zinedine Zidane is my favourite player of all time – I loved him, even more than Ronaldo.

If I won the lottery… I would go to Madrid, to the Bernabéu stadium to see my team play. That would be a dream.

On my pitch… I’m outside Sainsbury’s, Green Park Station, Bath, Monday to Friday, 10am-5pm
