How to volunteer with The Big Issue this Christmas

As the nights draw in and the temperature drops, frontline teams across the country are looking for volunteers to help people who are homeless or vulnerably housed

Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for organisations with a strong social mission, and The Big Issue is no different.

We’re looking for volunteers to help out in its frontline offices across the country. This is where we support our vendors directly, interacting with anyone affected by poverty and giving them an opportunity to earn a living by selling The Big Issue magazine.

There are opportunities across the UK in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Norwich, Bournemouth, Bath and Bristol, where our hard-working frontline staff supply vendors with magazines, a friendly face, a warm and welcoming environment, and other support they might need. Volunteers will be mainly office based, supporting with administration and interacting with vendors at the front desk.

Volunteers will get induction sessions with supportive staff who will train you in the day-to-day activities of The Big Issue office. There will also be access to further relevant training which could include professional boundaries, mental health awareness, drug and alcohol awareness and much more. Travel and lunch will be paid for and we’re looking for a minimum of one shift per week.

Sound like something you can do? Find out more here.
