BE MORE GUS: Catch The Big Issue’s new cartoon series only in the magazine

BE MORE GUS is The Big Issue’s new cartoon series created by Emily Brooks Millar. Buy the magazine to keep up with “optimistic and nattily dressed” chihuahua Gus

From a sunny walk to a perfectly brewed cup of tea, everyday life is filled with small pleasures. But it can be hard to stop and appreciate them.

If you need a reminder, The Big Issue’s new cartoon series is here to help.

BE MORE GUS – the creation of Scotland-based visual artist Emily Brooks Millar – debuted in last week’s magazine.

The strip follows the adventures of Gus, an “optimistic and nattily dressed” chihuahua who enjoys the simple things in life.

Brooks Millar revealed the collaboration with The Big Issue on her Instagram.

“I feel very grateful to be working with The Big Issue and have always admired the wonderful things that they do,” she said.

“Support your local vendors!”

The cartoon will encourage readers to stop and smell the roses. Amid the pressures of modern life, it can be difficult to do so – but a growing body of scientific research shows that it can significantly improve your overall wellbeing.

The first Gus cartoon featured in last week’s magazine, but it will be posted on our Instagram over the weekend, so you can check it out there if you missed it. The cartoon will run fortnightly in The Big Issue – check out the 28 August issue for the latest instalment of Gus’ adventures.
